Alcove cabinets truly complete a room; bringing practical, characterful and stylish storage to an otherwise awkward part of the room. For this reason, it is one of our most popular requests.
For balance and symmetry, many opt for one full unit each side of the chimney breast, with the classic configuration comprising of a lower cabinet (usually 80cm tall) and a bookcase-style shelving unit sitting above this.
For a more modern configuration, you may want to consider floating shelves above the lower cabinet instead, a more abstract layout for the shelving, bolder colours or even a mixture of natural woods and painted elements.

What our customers are saying
“Tommy did a fantastic job installing units in the alcoves of our living room. The support and level of understanding for the overall design was exactly what we needed and his attention to detail was very impressive. We couldn’t fault any part of the process and would highly recommend Tommy to anyone.”
Alcove cabinets frequently asked questions
If I have shelves in the alcove unit, would they be adjustable?
This is entirely up to you. We certainly can make the selves adjustable and we very often do as it allows clients to reconfigure the storage units as and when they need to. But there are instances when fixed shelving either looks much better or is necessary, such as when integrated lighting is included.
With alcove cabinet shelving, we would recommend fixing the open shelving (purely for cosmetic reasons) but then making any shelving within cupboards adjustable to give you that flexibility for your storage needs.
